Jogging one morning Amy senses that someone is watching her as she stop and goes into a diner she comes face to face with a man who addresses her by her name. Looking at him and listening to his words Amy realizes that he knows a lot about her past, her mother and her life. His knowledge about her past and her mother seems vast and frightening. Since her recent kidnapping she has a fear of strangers.  Amy immediately demands to know who he is and what he wants with her. As she listens to him and observes his actions she realizes that there is more to him than he is letting on. He claims to be the father but she has never met him and she had been told that he father had been kidnapped when she was a child. He tells her his name is Thomas McKnight and the reason why he was absent from her life but this did not endear her to him any more. He tells her that they are a superhuman race, Weeia, and that all of them have powers but that hers and his are special powers. Amy doesn’t like or trust him and wonders just how much about herself and her powers should she reveal to him, also what did he want of her and why did he appear at this time in her life.

He tells her that she is a dreamshifter, she has the ability to see things in her dreams, change the way they happen and alter time. His power is similar, he has the ability to make people do things against their will. Amy is confused and wondering if she should believe him. She does not know him but deep down inside she knows he is telling her the truth but can she trust him? Amy’s mother is out of town so Amy is left to fend for herself. Suddenly events in her life are manipulated, orchestrated and created that will endanger her but also bring her to a better understanding of her powers.

Amy learns that her father is one of the Elders and probably the most powerful and dangerous man one. He is capable of interfering with time, changing events that have happened in the past and creating the future as he sees it. She’s not afraid of him tho and when another Weeia, Duncan Bittersdorp, his special power, which is Speed Walking, turns up in her life and helps her to stand up to her father, she quickly gets attached to him. Spending time with him and getting to know more about Duncan is quite an experience and his loyalty to her is unparalleled.  Before leaving her, her father gave a a cell phone to get in touch with him. She meets a psychic who tells her more about herself as she refers to her as Unelmoija: As she learns the true meaning behind the name she also learn that someone is out to hut her someone tries to kill her and Duncan ends up saving her life.

Duncan is helping to protect her and trying to find out who is trying to kill her. A friend of his family offers to let Amy and her mom stay at their home for protection but there is an explosion in the garage where they are suppose to meet and Amy get separated from her mom and Duncan. She ends up on her own with Duncan’s friends, who turns out to be the worst enemies of her father. They tricked her into believing that her mother is safe and uses drugs, poisons and lethal shots in order to control Amy’s actions, thoughts and prevent her from dreamshifting and using her powers.

Using her powers she searches for her mom. She finds that her mom has been in a coma from the day of the explosion  As she enters her mother’s mind see sees her dreams and what she learns about the explosion will change everything. Amy cleverly uses her skills to help her escape, get into her mother’s room and her dads mind and ask for his help in saving her mother’s life. Duncan, Amy and her father devise a plan to bring her mother back but will it succeed or will Amy end up stuck in a coma with her mom? Amy finds her mom in her dream and does bring her back to the present and out of the coma. Her dad finds the people responsible for hurting them and makes an example of the by killing and destroying the entire family. Amy and her mom are safe.

This story is unique and delightful . A great read, I look forward to the next books in the series.
