Remember I’ve said I like Jetpack. That’s because they have so many tools built into one amazing plugin. If you’ve installed Jetpack, you can enable ‘Publicise’. This feature allows you to link to social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Path and Google+. From there, you can set your post to publish directly on these sites at the time your post goes live.
It’s pretty easy.
To start, if you haven’t done so yet, install the Jetpack plugin. Once installed, you will see a new menu option in your WP Admin Dashboard named ‘Jetpack’. Under this menu option, choose ‘Settings’.
Once there, you’ll need to click on ‘Engagement’.
From there, scroll down to ‘Publicise’ and click the toggle to on. It will show blue if it’s enabled.
Go to the ‘Settings’ menu for you WP Admin Dashboard and choose ‘Sharing’.
You’ll see all the available social media options here.
Click ‘Add New’ next to the social media account you would like to link. You will be prompted to sign in with your username and password for the respective site, and accept the permissions.
Once added, you can enable other authors [if you have mutltple users on your WP site] to post using this account. Repeat this for each account you want to link. You can link two of the same types of social media, but I’ve never had the need.
Whenever you create a new post, you’ll see a new option for “Publicise’.
By default, the message posted will be the name of your post. It will include a link to your post and upload your featured image as the post image. You can click ‘Edit Details’ to change the write up and add hashtags. You can also add hashtags to your post name and those will convert to hashtags on social media where possible.
And that’s it. Pretty straight-forward.
Do you know of other ways to auto post new posts to social media?
